Case Competition March 2024
We are hosting our annual Narrative Medicine Case Competition on March 30th-31st.
A hypothetical patient story is going to be used to begin a conversation on patient-centred care. In groups of 3-4, use and develop your teamwork and critical thinking skills to tackle issues in health care and present your plan to address the patient’s medical conditions, goals, and the systemic barriers that could be involved in the patient’s treatment.

Telling Your Narrative: A Key Tool in Career Advancement and Relationships
Online Workshop: February 8th 2024 @ 4:30pm
In this interactive professional development workshop, participants learnt from Dr. Lin’s pivot from a research-focused career path at Stanford and Columbia to a digital health startup journey. They learned how to identify their life’s major plot points and how they can weave them into a narrative that resonates for school and job interviews and carry their identity through challenging points in their life experience.
Interdisciplinary Healthcare Panel
Hybrid Panel: January 31st 2024 @5:00pm
An opportunity for students to hear more about a variety of educational and career journeys in health care. Students were able to explore a variety of opportunities within the health system and gain new perspectives.
Narrative Medicine Case Competition
Case Competition Dates: April 1st - 2nd 2023 @ 9:00am | Room 2306/2309 at the UBC Nest
The Narrative Medicine Case Competition (NMCC) encourages UBC students from different faculties to tackle a patient/community health crisis case in interdisciplinary teams. Students will to navigate the multidimensional challenges in healthcare delivery, with the guidance and experiences of mentors in academic, clinical and patient-end experiences.
How to Care For Yourself So You Can Create Your Career Journey

Dr. Maryam Zeineddin is a family physician who has been practicing for over 17 years and who has founded a preventative care platform, Zilicare. Through this interactive workshop, Dr. Zeineddin went go over her journey and the strategies she has developed to build a strong foundation of self care and recognition, and how to use this to further your own career.
